Training horseback archery in winter changes everything.
Snow alters the rhythm of riding. Horses move differently. Balance becomes more important. Focus sharpens in the cold air.
The Winter Horseback Archery Training Camp in Lapland is designed to use these conditions as a training advantage.
Over four days, participants train with experienced coach Anni Jauhiainen, developing technical archery skills while also exploring creative riding exercises that improve body control, balance and connection with the horse.
Mounted training takes place on snowy tracks and forest trails. Riders may practice without saddle, experiment with skiing behind a horse or take part in playful exercises that combine physical movement and shooting.
Ground archery sessions are held indoors in a warm training hall, allowing focused technical practice regardless of outside temperatures.
The camp is intentionally varied and playful. Some sessions focus on precision and technique, others on creativity and teamwork through games like Mogu or the Mongolian-inspired “ball hunt”.
Professional photos are taken throughout the camp so participants can take home memories of their winter adventure.
At the end of each day, the sauna warms tired muscles and conversations continue around the dinner table.
This camp is designed to help riders grow, experiment and enjoy horseback archery in one of the most unique winter environments in the world.
