Trick Riding – Beginner Intensive Course with Anni Jauhiainen

Trick riding has a long and fascinating history.

The discipline originated with Cossack warriors, who developed acrobatic riding techniques to protect themselves in battle and move quickly around their horses. Over time, these techniques evolved into spectacular circus performances, rodeo shows and film stunts.

Today, trick riding is also recognized as an excellent training method for riders. It develops body awareness, balance, confidence and a deeper understanding of movement with the horse.
The Trick Riding Beginner Intensive Course at Ranch Kuulas introduces these skills step by step in a safe and structured way.

Participants begin by practicing movements on a special trick riding dummy horse, learning how to control their balance and body position before working with real horses.

Once the basic movements feel comfortable, exercises continue on trained horses at a calm walking pace. Each participant progresses at their own speed while receiving personal guidance from the instructor.

Coach Anni Jauhiainen brings extensive experience as a stunt performer in film productions and live shows, as well as a background as one of Europe’s most accomplished horseback archers. Her teaching style is calm, clear and safety-focused.

The course takes place at Ranch Kuulas in Finnish Lapland, surrounded by forests and open landscapes. Between training sessions, participants can relax, enjoy local food and experience the peaceful rhythm of the ranch.

This course is designed for anyone curious about trick riding — whether you are an experienced rider or simply someone who wants to explore movement with horses in a completely new way.

Training is led by Anni Jauhiainen, professional stunt rider and elite horse athlete.
